Count the remotes in your living room. TV remote. Set-top box remote. AC remote. Soundbar remote. Fan remote. That is 4–5 remotes for one room. In a 3BHK, you could have 12–15 remotes across the house. Batteries die. Remotes get lost. The IR receivers on appliances age and start needing “point exactly at the sensor” precision.

An IR blaster sits in the room, connects to your WiFi, and sends infrared signals to every appliance in range. Your phone becomes the only remote you need. Voice assistants replace the phone for common commands. And automations remove the need for even that.

“Alexa, turn on the TV” sends the IR power signal to your TV. “Hey Google, set AC to 24 degrees” sends the temperature command to your AC. A scheduled routine at 7 PM turns on the TV, sets it to your preferred news channel, and adjusts the AC to 25 degrees — without anyone touching a remote, phone, or app. A bedtime scene at 11 PM turns the TV off, turns the AC to 26 degrees, and switches the set-top box off. Every night. Automatically.

The Beakn app includes a pre-loaded database of IR codes for most Indian and international AC brands. If your brand or model is not in the database, the built-in IR recorder can learn commands directly from your existing AC remote — point the remote at the IR Blaster, press the button, and the command is stored. This works with any brand, including unbranded or Chinese-manufactured units.

Yes. A single Beakn IR Blaster can control every IR-controlled appliance in the same room — TV, AC, set-top box, fan, soundbar, projector — as long as each appliance is within the 15–20 metre range and has line of sight to the device. For appliances in different rooms, you need one IR Blaster per room since IR signals do not pass through walls.

Both are IR Blasters with identical IR functionality — 4 LEDs, 360° coverage, IR learning, WiFi, voice control, scenes. The Sensor Hub adds a built-in NTC temperature sensor. This lets you create automations triggered by actual room temperature — for example, turning the AC on when the room crosses 30°C, or reducing fan speed when the room drops below 22°C at night. Both are priced at ₹744.

No. The 4 IR LEDs provide 360-degree coverage. Place the IR Blaster anywhere in the room — on a shelf, side table, or TV unit — and it reaches appliances in every direction. It does require a clear line of sight (IR signals do not pass through solid objects), so avoid placing it inside a closed cabinet.

Yes. The Beakn app lets you create scenes and routines that combine IR commands (AC temperature, TV power, fan speed) with smart switch actions (lights, exhaust fans), curtain motor controls, and dimming controls — all triggered by a single tap, voice command, schedule, or NFC tag.

Yes. Offline mode ensures the IR Blaster works over your local WiFi network even when your internet connection is down. Schedules and pre-configured scenes stored on the device continue to execute. Remote access from outside your home requires internet.

The Smart Plug+ (₹819) is a 16A smart plug with a built-in IR blaster — designed to be plugged into a wall socket to control the appliance’s power supply AND send IR commands. The Smart IR Plus (₹744) is a standalone IR blaster powered via USB — it only sends IR commands, it does not control power. Use the Smart Plug+ when you need both power control and IR in one device (typically for ACs). Use the Smart IR Plus when you need IR control for a room with multiple appliances but do not need a 16A plug.

Yes. Any IR command or multi-device scene can be converted into a Siri Shortcut. This means you can trigger IR actions from iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, CarPlay, HomePod, or as part of Apple Focus Mode automations. “Hey Siri, movie mode” can turn on your TV, set your AC, and dim your lights — all through one voice command.
